Programs You Could Assist this School Year:

KidSmart
KidSmart is BCM’s after-school homework assistance and tutoring program for children in grades 1-5. The program runs Monday thru Thursday 3pm to 6pm, and Wednesdays 1:30pm to 6pm.

Volunteers needed:

Reading/Classroom Tutor - work one-on-one, or with a small group of students, aiding them in homework completion, required reading from selected books, and basic academic skill-building activities.
Commitment:
2-3 hours once a week.


Bible Clubs
Bible Clubs, hosted throughout the city, are weekly small groups for elementary school children. The groups meet on Mondays or Thursdays 4:30pm to 6pm.

Volunteers needed:

Club Leaders - adults who can co-lead and mentor a group of children to learn basic Christian beliefs and practical applications of faith.
Commitment: 3-4 hours once a week.


StreetWorkz
StreetWorkz is BCM’s youth group for 6th-8th grade students.

You can volunteer as a Middle School Small Group Leader -

During the first hour, build relationships with youth during hang out time (you can do this while playing basketball, listening to music, or just sitting and talking with youth). Assist in leading games and other activities.

In the second hour, co-lead weekly small group Bible study with 6-12 youth (curriculum provided). Challenge youth to pursue their relationship with God through small group teaching and discussion. Participate in group outings which serve to expose youth to a variety of activities and experiences.

Commitment: Co-lead weekly small group Bible study (preparation time included) - 3.5 hrs/wk on either Monday or Wednesday evenings 6pm to 9pm. Attend monthly StreetWorkz volunteer meeting - 2 hrs/month. Participate in StreetCrewz outings (typically one per quarter) - time varies.


LEAD
Leadership Employment Academics and Discipleship (LEAD) is a program for local high school students. Students work or volunteer in our elementary program to serve our younger participants. They receive 1-1 tutoring and meet weekly for a Bible based leadership lesson.

Volunteers needed:

Tutors - work one-on-one with a student, helping them through homework and studying, and tutoring in one subject area if needed.
Commitment: 2-3 hours once a week.

Workshop Leaders - teach a new skill or help develop a talent. Special interest classes can be one time or be scheduled over a period of several weeks.
Commitment: Varies, depending on workshop.
