Bible Clubs are weekly small groups for elementary school children. The groups meet one afternoon Mondays thru Thursdays, 4pm to 6pm.
Club Leaders - adults who can co-lead and mentor a group of children to learn basic Christian beliefs and practical applications of faith.
Commitment: 3-4 hours once a week.
SAIL is a six-week summer program that focuses on learning and having fun at the same time! It includes: small group intensive academic instruction (1 tutor for every 3-4 students) in math, reading, writing, computers and other subjects; afternoon recreation, fun workshops and performing arts track; fun and educational weekly outings and swimming. For SAIL, we will need the following volunteers:
Drivers - help with morning or afternoon car pool.
Commitment: 1 hour/day for at least one week of SAIL at either 7am - 8am or 3pm - 4pm.
Lunch Providers - help to provide a healthy mid-day meal to SAIL participants and interns. Commitment: Provide lunches for 50 children and interns in program. Either make or sponsor a brown bag lunch.
Pull-out Tutors - provide individual attention to children that need additional academic assistance.
Commitment:at least 2 hours per week in mornings.
Teacher Mentors - teachers who can mentor tutors and interns.
Commitment: at least 2 hours per week.
Workshop Leaders - adults who can give a one- or two-week workshop or weekly workshop for 6 weeks.
Commitment: at least 2 hours per week; preferably topic in arts.
StreetWorkz is BCM’s youth group for teens. There are two volunteer opportunities within the StreetWorkz program.
Large Group Volunteer - Build relationships with youth during hang out time Assist in leading games and other activities. Facilitate discussion groups following the weekly teaching.
Commitment: Attend weekly large group meeting - 3 hrs/wk Wednesdays 6-9pm.
StreetCrewz Leader (Small Group Leader) - Co-lead weekly small group Bible study with 6-12 youth (curriculum provided). Challenge youth to pursue their relationship with God through small group teaching and discussion.
Commitment: Co-lead weekly Bible study - 3.5 hrs/wk. on Thursday evenings (preparation time included).Club Leaders.
Each year, college students from all over the U.S. participate in our summer internship program, learning about urban ministry and becoming teachers in our SAIL program.
Dinner Providers – Prepare a dinner during the intern orientation or for one of the weekly monday night training meetings. If you love cooking and would be willing to prepare a meal for a dozen hungry college students, please let us know which night you could provide dinner.
Commitment: one time.
