Pick a Program You Would Like to Assist this Summer:

Summer Adventures in Learning (SAIL)
SAIL is a six-week summer program that focuses on learning and having fun at the same time! It includes: small group intensive academic instruction
(1 tutor for every 4 students) in math, reading, writing, and other subjects; afternoon recreation, fun workshops and performing arts; fun and educational weekly outings and swimming.

For SAIL, we will need the following volunteers:

Lunch Providers - help to provide a healthy mid-day meal to SAIL participants and interns.
Commitment: Provide 60 lunches for children and interns in program. Either make or sponsor a brown bag lunch.

Pull-out Reading Tutors - provide individual attention to children that need additional academic assistance.
Commitment: at least 2 hours per week in mornings.

Workshop Leaders - adults who can give a one- or two-week workshop or weekly workshop for 6 weeks.
Commitment: at least 1 hour per week; preferably topic in creative arts.


Bible Clubs
Bible Clubs are weekly small groups for elementary school children. The groups meet one afternoon Mondays thru Thursdays, 2:30pm to 4:30pm.

Club Leaders - adults who can co-lead and mentor a group of children to learn basic Christian beliefs and practical applications of faith.
Commitment: 2-3 hours once a week.



StreetWorkz
StreetWorkz is a six week (June 28 - August 6, 2010), day-long summer camp for middle school students. The day will start with multimedia classes, then proceed with a variety of community service projects. Each morning will conclude with a Bible study. After lunch, our youth will join RYAA sports camps.

There are several volunteer opportunities within the StreetWorkz program:

Lunch Providers - help to provide a healthy mid-day meal to StreetWorkz participants and interns.
Commitment: Provide 30 lunches for children and interns in program. Either make or sponsor a brown bag lunch.

Driver/Service Chaperone- help transport the students to/from BCM and their service projects; stay and work with the students.
Commitment: at least one morning M-Th, 9am - 11:30am

Workshop Leaders - adults who can elp with multimedia/video class in the mornings.
Commitment: at least 1-2 hours per week; 8am to 9:30am M-Th


LEAD
Leadership Employment Academics and Discipleship (LEAD) is a program for local high school students. Students work or volunteer in our elementary program to serve our younger participants. They receive 1-1 tutoring and meet weekly for a Bible based leadership lesson.

Volunteers needed:

Tutors - work one-on-one with a student, helping them through homework and studying, and tutoring in one subject area if needed.
Commitment: 2-3 hours once a week.

Workshop Leaders - teach a new skill or help develop a talent. Special interest classes can be one time or be scheduled over a period of several weeks.
Commitment: Varies, depending on workshop.


Internships for Christian Leaders (ICL)
Each year, college students from all over the U.S. participate in our summer internship program, learning about urban ministry and becoming teachers in our SAIL program.

Dinner Providers – Prepare a dinner during the intern orientation or for one of the weekly evening training meetings. If you love cooking and would be willing to prepare a meal for a dozen hungry college students, please let us know which night you could provide dinner.
Commitment: one time.

Teacher Mentors - teachers who can mentor tutors and interns.
Commitment: at least 2 hours per week during summer program.
